The 12 Dress Project ~ February

February! Valentines day! I love Valentines day. It was always a big deal in my house growing up. It was my parents anniversary and some years it could be bigger then Christmas. Mama Stitches would go crazy decorating and Papa Stitches would make a spectacular meal. We (the entire Stitches gang usually consisted between 5 - god knows how many kids) would get all fancified in our fancy wear. When we got to our seats they were usually loaded with gifts flowing into our dishes. It always was wonderful. I try and make Valentines day as special for my family but it just really isn't the same as when I was a kid. It could be that we are a bit more lazy then my parents were.

Any who for my dress this month for the 12 Dress Project ( we named it and gave it a button, look to the left, down a little) I went with a Valentines day theme with a slight twist. The detail I wanted to work on was my new found love, embroidery! I found a embroidery pattern that I fell in love with on Urban Threads, one of my new addiction sites along with Sublime Stitching, called Love Potion Apothecary Label. Inspired by the apothecary label I went looking about the Internet for what apothecary's use to wear and the one thing I found in common were the white aprons. That is just perfect for me. I love aprons and I thought that could easily translate into modern wear... or modern Mrs. Frizzle wear.

And here is a close up of my embroidery. It took me a few days but luckily I was sick and so I just put my headphones on and listen to book after book while I embroidered. Going slow is hard for me. When I sew I am super fast, I am coming to realize I am just fast at everything I am like on speed or something! So sitting down and having to go slow is difficult but I think it is good for me.

I made some big ol' straps so that I could have a huge bow. I'm a sucker for any kind of bow. I have to say that these cap sleeves are the cutest little cap sleeve pattern I have come across.

Buttons made her first dress for the 12 Dress Project this month as well. Look at that fabric!!! Could it be more perfect? I think not. She was quite excited when she found it in the store. This is her first dress that she has sewn from start to finish totally on her own, I'm so proud of her. She even conquered her fear of the zipper! And her pockets match Pru's skirt.

If you follow us on Facebook you would know that it was Pru's birthday this past weekend and we surprised the crap out of her. For her birthday we made her a Valentines day skirt. No dress for her yet while Baby Hulk is on the boob.

These last couple weeks have been crazy. Our house has been plagued with disease and I have been super busy with London Peach BUT Baby Jagger did manage to get a sewing project in and he did so great!
